A Fresh Look! – Oak Flooring, Doors and Stairs.
Tricia and Andrew McCarthy wanted to update their lovely detached home in a village on the outskirts of Ripon, North Yorkshire. They asked us to visit them and give our recommendations. Richard went along to their home and between them, they came up with a comprehensive refurbishment plan.
The McCarthy’s then visited our showroom in Harrogate to discuss the various options for oak doors, oak flooring, skirting boards and oak staircase. They spent time considering the different oak finishes of the oak flooring, the choices of door designs and design of the staircase. In April, our installation team of Billy, Matt and George started on the transformation!
The installation team replaced the flooring in the Dining Room and Hallway with Pre-finished oak flooring with a Natural Oil. This has a lovely light, warm finish, and the existing profiled pine skirting and architrave were replaced with clean oak replacements.
The existing pine linings, multi-panelled pine doors, and multi-glazed double doors were also replaced. The couple chose flush oak doors (Sancerre and Bastille glazed) with modern brushed chrome fittings.
The pièce de résistance, however, was the refit of the staircase with its heavily shaped spindles, newel posts, and handrail. These were replaced with a stunning staircase featuring clean, square newels, handrails and glass panels.
The overall look is now fresh, contemporary and has a definite Wow factor in its simplicity.
Andrew commented: ‘The attention to detail ensured that we had the right materials and fittings for a high-quality job’.
