5 years ago, we supplied Simon and Sally Weaver the engineered oak flooring for their hallway in their lovely home near Harrogate.
Their detached stone built home is relatively new, having being built in the nineties. However, last year they decided to build an extension along the back of the house. This would increase the size of the original kitchen and make a very large kitchen/living area.
Simon called in to see us, to look at the various samples of oak flooring available in the showroom. He wanted something neutral and natural, that wouldn’t date and that was light and airy for their new spacious room. This room looks out onto their family garden.
He took a sample of the pre-finished Chateau board in natural oak colour as this board has a lovely smooth sanded finish. Richard then visited their home to take final measurements so that everything could be confirmed.
Whilst Richard was there, Sally and Simon enquired about replacing the pine and painted staircase, which leads from their hallway, upstairs and has 3 returns, forming a lovely galleried landing.
We installed the oak flooring during the summer, once all the building work was complete. The oak flooring was glued onto the chipboard flooring left by the builders: this provided a solid, sturdy feel underfoot. As the width of the kitchen was over 6 metres wide, we incorporated additional ‘expansion gaps’ around the perimeter of the floor. Luckily, we were able to incorporate these alongside a glass wall and under the kitchens’ central island.
