Air Dried Oak Beams

Introduction

We have made the conscious decision to stock quality Air Dried Oak beams and not Green Oak.

 

Air Dried Oak that is well seasoned and has already expelled a large amount of moisture; this drier timber is therefore more stable.

 

Cracks and other natural characteristics are always present in air dried oak making it the ideal choice for:

There are 4 forms that European Oak can take.

 

Green - A freshly sawn piece of timber less than 6 months old

 

Air Dried - Oak that has been drying outside for a number of years.

 

Kiln Dried - Oak that has undergone a drying process to reduce the moisture content to around 8-12%

 

Reclaimed - We have a small selection of reclaimed oak beams and viewing it at our Tockwith workshop would be advisable.
